Following the recent Evaluation Frequency Survey, we have listened to the feedback provided by members and found an overwhelming support for a move to in-person evaluations every other year, with an online check-in during the year between. Qualmark will begin phasing in a biennial evaluation model, with further information on the processes and expectations to be shared with members over the coming weeks.
What does this mean for members?
- Tourism businesses are still encouraged to progress on their sustainability journey and are eligible to continue advancing through the Sustainable Tourism Business (STB) Accreditation levels.
- During the online year, members will continue to receive support through an online check-in process with a Qualmark Specialist, where any changes in the previous year will be identified to determine the appropriate accreditation level.
- All other T&C’s, including the current cost structure, will remain unchanged.
What preparation is required for an online evaluation?
- To help businesses prepare and make the most of the online discussion, members are required to fill out a Pre-Update Evaluation Form for the two sectors, accommodation or experiences, which will be sent prior to the scheduled call.
Who does this apply to?
- All first evaluations including isites & TECNZ members will remain an on-site, in-person evaluation.
- For all other members, your Qualmark Specialist will be in touch with you regarding the next applicable format when it is time for your next evaluation.
Members will continue to be supported through the evaluation reports, resources (available on the member portal) and opportunities with key industry organisations such as Tourism New Zealand. We remain committed to helping businesses participate in responsible tourism practices and look forward to continuing working with you all.
